Ferrum
Privacy policy
Last updated
This policy explains how Ferrum Freight & Logistics (“Ferrum”, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you visit this website, request a quote, track a shipment, subscribe to our newsletter or work with us. We are the controller of the personal data described here.
Who we are
Ferrum Freight & Logistics, 2400 Harbor Gateway, Suite 900, Long Beach, CA 90802, United States. For any privacy question or request, write to privacy@ferrum.example.
What we collect
- Quote and contact requests: your name, company, work email, phone number and the shipment details you give us (goods, weights, origin, destination, dates).
- Shipment tracking: the reference you enter. Tracking results relate to the shipment, not to you.
- Newsletter: your email address and the date you subscribed.
- Website usage: if you accept analytics cookies, pages visited, approximate location (country or city), device and browser type, collected through Google Analytics. See our cookie policy.
- Customers and suppliers: contact details of the people we work with, and the records needed to move, insure and clear freight.
Why we use it, and on what basis
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Answer your quote or question and prepare a contract | Steps at your request before a contract |
| Move, insure and clear your freight; invoice it | Performance of a contract |
| Customs, tax and safety records | Legal obligation |
| Newsletter and service updates | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Analytics and marketing cookies | Your consent, given in the cookie banner |
| Protect our site and prevent fraud | Our legitimate interests |
Who we share it with
We share personal data only as needed: with carriers, agents and customs authorities that handle your shipment; with IT, hosting, email and analytics providers that work on our behalf under contract; and with authorities when the law requires it. We never sell personal data.
International transfers
We operate in 42 countries, so data may be processed outside your country. Where it leaves the UK or the European Economic Area, we use the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or another approved safeguard.
How long we keep it
Quote requests that do not lead to a shipment: 24 months. Shipment and invoice records: as long as tax and customs law requires (usually 7 to 10 years). Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Cookie choices: 180 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to privacy@ferrum.example. You can also complain to your data protection authority. Residents of California can ask what we collect and ask us to delete it; we do not sell or share personal data for cross-context advertising without consent.
Security
We protect personal data with access controls, encryption in transit and at rest, and staff training. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Changes
We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
